Client: Bord Failte Project: Gael Force West adventure portfolio and the Adventure Capital of Ireland
The brief: In 2005 Detail was approached by Jamie Young of Killary Adventure centre on the rugged west coast of Ireland. With the support of Bord Failte, the national tourist board of Ireland, it was Young's plan to turn the wild west into the adventure Capital of Ireland, with a solid events programme at the helm. So we devised Gael Force, a multi-sport event with appeal for the hard-core and the armchair adventurer alike. With 2 years of Gael Force under the belt, it is now the largest single adventure event in Ireland by a country mile and subject of an annual TV feature.
From the base of this event's success, the campaign to bring the west to life as an adventure playground par excellence is well underway and Detail has set up its stall in the west to facilitate the creation of a portfolio of adventure for the Tourist Board. So successful has this approach been that Detail now maintains a full time staff in the region and an office base. We have ingrained and immersed ourselves in the west to ensure we deliver only the very best for our client, bringing the mantel of the Adventure Capital truly home to roost.
