You love the Tweed

Another sold-out Mighty Deerstalker field took to the hills, rivers and fields of the Tweed Valley this weekend as 1500 runners romped their way through this 10km (ish) and 5km (and a bit) running jamboree. The turn out was the best yet and the event sold out weeks before the starting gun sounded. The fancy dress was outstanding, with a huge amount of fine country apparel being donned for the occasion. A special mention should also go the party people who enjoyed live bands and a superb shindig after the run in our “Beerstalker” party marquee; you managed to drink the Traquair Bewery dry of their specially brewed Deerstalker ale! Check out all the outrageous antics and the superb fancy dress at www.themightydeerstalker.com.

Sheffield Rat Race launches with a splash!

Sheffield Rat Race got underway today with a photo shoot outside Town Hall – and IN the famous fountains of the Peace Gardens. With kayaks, ropes (and suits of course) at the ready, our Rat Race duo braved the chilly Spring air of Steel City to show a bit of Rat Rat spirit to our newest host location. The Sheffield Rat Race is our first foray into Yorkshire and this vast post-industrial city will play host to a very “urban” feeling event. Check it out at www.ratraceadventure.com/page260.asp.

Rat About London Town!

Setting a new London Marathon PB, Our Rat About Town took to the streets of the Capital with 40 000 others and romped home to the cheers of the 1000s lining the streets. Raising funds for our Youth event partners the Outward Bound Trust, the man-sized Rat had to take on gallons of water as his “fur” was somewhat of an impediment on this, the hottest day of the year do far!

The Rat strikes again...this time in Belfast

Fresh from his London marathon triumph, the Rat was spotted again today in Belfast for the Deep River Rock Belfast City Marathon. With some superbly crafted finishing funnel “sow boating” the Rat enjoyed cult status as he made a dash for the line in pretty Ormeau park. The marathon route took in some of our 2008 Rat Race sights including the Titanic Quarter, Ormeau Embankment, the Laggan river path and the Antrim Road. Belfast Rat Race returns this August 8th and 9th and full info can be found here: www.ratraceadventure.com/page169.asp.

To Infinity and Beyond

Detail Events were engaged by Pyrotechnic extremists Walk the Plank to provide climbers and stunt management of a daring piece of their spectacular show to open the new Infinity footbridge in Stockton-on-Tees. Our athletes scaled the enormous steel curved spans of the bridge whilst fireworks and light shows unfolded around them. The 15 minute show took 6 months to plan and provided the people of Stockton with an amazing display. The legacy is a beautifully designed landmark for the city, spanning the River Tees and connecting the University precinct with the new North Shore development.

Legends of Lough Key launches

Detail Ireland have launched a brand new event for October 31st this year. Legends of Lough Key will feature a 10km run, a 3km fun run and a whole host of family adventure activities at the glorious Lough Key Forest Park near Sligo in Western Ireland. The event is being supported and part-funded by Failte Ireland and promises to be another unique ground-breaking adventure concept for Detail. With the running action going into the night, this event has something of a Halloween twist to it. If that was not scary enough, the use of an existing observation tower within the forest for a one-off abseil and zip wire activity will really scare you!
